What You'll be Doing:
- Counsels with substantial experience in areas of responsibility and is a legal advisor to business partners for employment related matters, with primary responsibility for counseling on employment compensation and benefit matters.
- Knowledgeable regarding local, state and federal laws pertaining to employee benefits. including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, Affordable Care Act, Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and COVID-related matters.
- Shares responsibility for an area of the law and/or business unit support with others in practice group.
- Ability to manage employment litigation, arbitration and civil rights charges.
- Provides sound legal advice and effectively integrates business and legal issues in such advice.
- May assist in management and oversight of external counsel and/or in-house paralegals.
- Ability to function at a high level, work independently, and engage in direct contact and advice with management personnel at an equivalent or higher level within the company.
- Maintains knowledge of law in the area of practice and proactively identifies issues of concern for the company.

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):
- Juris Doctorate and Bar Admission v in MI or qualification to be admitted to MI Bar (required within one year of start date).
- 5+ years of experience in legal practice.
- Experience advising on employment matters, including compensation and benefits/traditional labor experience not required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
