Description

The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, located in Woodstock, Illinois, is seeking two highly motivated, full-time attorneys to prosecute criminal cases:

1. Experienced Criminal Assistant State’s Attorney with more than three years of felony experience and a strong desire to be in the courtroom and on trial; and
2. Entry Level Criminal Assistant State’s Attorney with zero to three years of legal experience.
   
   

Education:  Juris Doctor Degree

License:  Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Illinois Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure
• Trial Advocacy
• Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing
• Arguing persuasively before a judge and/or jury
• Assimilating facts and drawing sound conclusions
• Using tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment within established guidelines
• Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments with minimum direction
• Preparing well-reasoned and well-researched motions and briefs
• Accurately proofreading copy with accompanying knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
• Performing data entry using word processing, spreadsheet and database commands and formats as required
  
  

Salary is commensurate with experience.
